Baby hairs

I'm not sure how far into my pregnancy I noticed this, but at some point I stopped losing my hair.  At first I thought I got a really crappy haircut that was growing out badly and I cursed my lame, untalented stylist (I was an angry pregnant lady).  And then I did some reading and smartened up.  Apparently I wasn't alone - levels of estrogen hormones increase during pregnancy and for many women this causes hair to grow faster and fall out less.  So, I went to my not-so-stupid-after-all stylist who attempted to 'thin out' my hair.  It was a valiant effort, but it just ended up looked choppy and weird because, let's face it, I had a ton of hair. Thankfully, I was huge and past putting too much effort into looking cute so it didn't really matter.  About a month or two after I gave birth I was beyond tired of the mop taking up residence on my head and was relieved when my hair started falling out.  Normal hair, here I come!

Fast forward a couple months later when I started to notice new little hairs growing along my hair line.  Hmmm...this is odd.  Have I always had these hairs and just never noticed them?  No, can't be.  I showed Brandon and he thought someone should study me.  New hair growth?  We could make millions!  But wait, why does my hair look thin on top?  That's not right.  I was telling our friends at Easter about what a freak I was becoming (because who doesn't like talking about abnormal hair growth at brunch?) when my friend pointed to her forehead - she had the same hairs, but about an inch or so longer, which made sense because she had her daughter about two months before I had Scarlett.  Duh.  I was growing my hair back!  At first I was annoyed that it was growing back so publicly in what Brandon calls my "parking spaces", but I've recently started to look at this as a badge of honor: I'm a new mom and dang proud of it.  See?  Look - baby hairs!

I thought I was crazy or that my daughter was just pulling all my hair out and it was growing back. I just started reading your blog today and I truly love it! My daughter is about the same age now that your daughter was here. She is going to be 10 months tomorrow! You really just gave me peace of mind! Thank you and I look forward to continuing in reading!
