8 Months! And 8 days...

It's been a fun month (and eight days) with the boohead!  She is currently cutting her second tooth, which actually isn't any fun at all come to think of it.  But, lately she's been laughing a lot, which is adorable and hysterical.  She squeals when we kiss her belly or her neck.  It's the best.  Let's see what else...she's getting really close to crawling!  She's up on all fours and can go backwards and in a circle, but I'm thinking she won't be going forward for another couple weeks.  She is an expert roller, though, which is super cute.  After her bath, we put her on the bed and she rolls and rolls and seems so proud of herself.  I think she likes the audience, too.

Scarlett is happily eating solids three times a day now.  I've been making her food (carrots, sweet potatoes, applesauce), but most days she will only eat it if I add Gerber applesauce to it - even the applesauce that I make.  Those people at Gerber really know what they're doing.  If given a choice, Scarlett would eat Gerber applesauce at every meal.  That and Cheerios.  Oh, does my girl love her Cheerios.  Those little o's have become my nanny of sorts.  I give Scarlett a handful of them so I can do the dishes or change the laundry or shop for a little while longer.  It's a win win.

Our boo is still a happy little one.  She loves people and she loves to kick her little feet!  And little they are - at eight months and eight days, Scarlett still fits into her 0-3 month shoes.  She may look a lot like her daddy's mama, but she sure has the feet of her mama's mama!

Scaredy Cat

Chico has many wonderful qualities - he's handsome, friendly, loyal, and when he's not covered in dirt, he smells really good.  But, smart?  Hmmm....  Well, he seems to be able to find the softest place to sleep within a half mile radius (earlier today I found him taking a snooze in Scarlett's car seat that was sitting outside) and he's finally learned that he will never be allowed into our bedroom so there's no use crying outside our door for hours (those were some loooong nights), but sometimes I question his smarts.  Last night was the third time Chico has climbed on the roof with no knowledge of how to get down.  I know he's up there when I hear him frantically pacing back and forth and as soon as I walk outside he starts meowing and freaking out.  As much as we try to convince him to jump onto a nearby ledge to get down, he refuses.  So, I have to climb the ledge, coax him to the edge of the roof with cheese and yank him down.  The funniest part is while all of this is happening, Rocky jumps from the roof to the ledge and back again just to see what's going on.  Show off.

My Clever Mama

My mom (Scarlett's Gigi) is the most generous, talented and energetic person I know.  This rare combination of attributes makes her hands down the best gift giver around.  She is especially doting on her grandkids.  She's already made a couple blankets for Scarlett, a diaper bag (which is technically for me, but I'm not the one in diapers...yet), a wiper cozy, a quilt that hangs on Scarlett's wall...the list goes on.  She also knits hats and sweaters and appliques bibs and onesies.  My mom impresses me to no end.  Here are a couple of the most recent onesies Gigi has made for for our little boo:

Easter Brunch

Brandon and I are always looking for an excuse to entertain, so we were really excited to host an Easter brunch yesterday. We had a great group of people over - family and friends, old and new.  They all graciously brought a dish to share, which was fantastic.  Everything was delicious!  It was a good day and a great excuse to drink champagne before noon.

Bath time fun time

Little Scarlett boohead has learned a lot of fun things about her bathtub recently.  She discovered that the other end of the tub has a green spongy material that's neat to scratch.  She discovered that she can reach both arms way over the side at the same time.  And then there's the one she's know for a while - washcloths are delicious.  But by far the most fun discovery she's made is that she can move herself into different seated positions.  Her favorite?  Side pose with crossed feet, of course.

Editors note: This information was gathered with help from Scarlett's number one bather, Daddy.

Swings!

Scarlett and I met a friend and her baby at the park yesterday.  It was Scarlett's first time on the swings and she loved it!  And I loved seeing my boohead so happy.
