What's she doing with that thing?

Scarlett loves when we help her stand up so we thought it would be the perfect time to get her a jumparoo!  She isn't jumping in it yet, but she is loving the toys.  Her eyes light up as soon as she's in it and she looks so happy.  She likes to grab the toys and has actually learned to spin the wheel that makes the lights and music go on - um, hello, brilliant much?

You may notice the MacGyver-esque solution to Scarlett's dangling feet in the jumparoo.  Her legs have a couple of inches to grow before she can touch the ground, so I fashioned a platform out of old phone books and a butcher block. Now if only I could think of a clever way to hide the jumparoo when it isn't in use.  The thing is freaking huge and not the most attractive piece of furniture.  Now I know why people have playrooms.

Sunday morning

Since Scarlett will start eating solids soon we bought her a high chair.  Unlike freestanding high chairs this one fits onto a table or, in our case, on the bar in the kitchen.  In order for it to really work, she needs to have better head control, but she seemed pretty comfortable in it the other day reading the paper.  Actually, she seemed a little annoyed at me for interrupting her.  Sorry, little lady.

Gym Cat

We gave Rocky a guest pass to the gym the other day.  He didn't do much exercising (lazy), but I think he enjoyed watching Scarlett work out.

Five months!

Scarlett is five months old today!  It kind of makes me sad to think that she's growing up so fast.  It's fun to see her learn new things, but sometimes I just want to stop time and have her be my sweet little baby forever.  She's starting to cuddle more and, well, she's my buddy.  We hang out at home and read books and play.  And we take walks and go on errands.  Lately I've been her trainer at our home gym (aka: a blanket on the floor in the living room).  We do some intense strengthening exercises and lots of cardio.  Not really, but I have been pushing the tummy time.  She's gotten so good that she's figured out how to roll herself over, which has all but eliminated time spent on her tummy.  I tried taking a photo of her on her tummy, but she's too quick!  Here's a picture of her mid-roll...And then she lands on her back...
I'm so proud of my girl!

Happy Birthday, Husband!

Today is Brandon's birthday!  I can't believe how lucky I am to have found such an amazing man to spend my life with.  Brandon is sweet, generous, funny, smart and perfect for me.  I knew very early on that he would be a wonderful father, but wow - his love for Scarlett is immeasurable.  Every morning Brandon gets Scarlett out of bed so I can sleep - oh, the luxury of being able to sleep in until 8:00 some mornings!  Then he dresses her and they play until it's nap time again.  We miss him when he goes to work, but are so excited when he comes home!  We all hang out and then it's Scarlett's bath time and bedtime and then it's our time alone together.  I can't ask for a better life.

Scarlett picked out this cute outfit to wear on her daddy's birthday.  It says 'Daddy's Purrr-fect Girl' on it.  A bit presumptuous, but I let it slide.  She is right - you can't ask for a more perfect boohead than our Scarlett boohead.

And now the numbers

Scarlett had her four month appointment on Monday and we are so proud of her!  She weighs 12 pounds, 10 ounces (30%) and is 25" long (75%).  Scarlett is such a different baby than she was two months ago.  Naps and sleeping aren't really issues anymore.  Gone are the days of nonstop crying and non-existent naps.  Things were tough for a while, but we made it through.  I'm really digging this.  I love being a mom.

Christmas!

Brandon and I had another fantastic Christmas in Missouri this year!  I am so thankful to have such wonderful in-laws.  We stayed at Brandon's mom's house the whole time and it couldn't have been better.  Well, my waistline suffered a little because my mother-in-law is an outrageously good cook and I ate so freaking much, but I guess that's cool (I also blame the White Russians).  She loved little Scarlett to pieces which pleased me to no end.  Such a doting Mamaw she is.

We finally got to meet our nephew, Jackson, who is just a couple weeks younger than Scarlett. Boy is he a sweetie!  And he can sleep!  Like, anywhere!  We may have been bitter if we weren't so honored to be his godparents.  And if he wasn't so tolerant of the boohead.
